Magnitude 5.1 earthquake strikes central Turkey

A magnitude 5.1 earthquake that struck Turkey's central Niğde province damaged some 143 homes, according to officials on Sept. 21.
Of the 143 buildings, 17 were heavily damaged and 126 suffered slight damage, said Niğde Governor Yilmaz Şahin.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said on Sunday that the quake took place at 10.08 p.m. local time (GMT1908) and was centered in the village of Obruk in the Bor district.
Its epicenter was 6.97 kilometers (4.3 miles) below the surface.
Şahin earlier said that tents and supplies were sent and search and rescue teams directed to the region.
No casualties have been reported so far.
