Lotto-Belisol’s Greipel wins 2nd stage of Tour of Turkey

German rider Andre Greipel (R) of the Lotto-Belisol team wins the second stage of the 2012 Presidential Cycling Tour, or Tour of Turkey, on the Alanya-Antalya track.
Lotto-Belisol rider Andre Greipel won the second stage of the 2012 Presidential Cycling Tour, or Tour of Turkey, yesterday.German rider overcame the high temperatures on the stage run in the Mediterranean city of Antalya, ahead of Australian Matthew Harley Goss from GreenEDGE and Italy’s Matteo Pelucchi of Team Europcar. Australian Mark Renshaw of the Rabobank Cycling Team finished fourth.
Goss leads the overall standings with six hours, 21 minutes and 47 seconds, two seconds better than Greipel. Pelucchi and Theo Bos, the winner of Sunday’s first stage, are tied in third and fourth, eight points behind Goss.
The third stage of the Tour of Turkey will be held between Antalya and Elmalı. It will be a climbing stage, with the 153-kilometer track reaching as high as 1850 meters at certain points. The eight-stage Tour will finish in Istanbul on Sunday.
