Local carmaker TEMSA seals $57 million deal in Romania

Turkish carmaker TEMSA has sealed a deal with Romania’s Interior Ministry worth 50 million euros (around $57 million) to deliver a total of 326 units of LD 12 model buses.

TEMSA won the tender to provide buses.

Bogdan Mihail İvanescu, secretary general of the Interior Ministry, TEMSA’s general manager Hasan Yıldırım, and Turkey’s ambassador to Bucharest Füsun Aramaz attended the signing ceremony in the Romanian capital.

Earlier this year, the company also sold 50 buses and midibuses in various models to Barraqueiro Transport, the largest tour operator in Portugal.

Sabancı, one of Turkey’s largest industrialist groups, sold its 48.7 percent stake in TEMSA for a consideration of 182 million Turkish Liras to True Value Capital Partner’s in May this year.

Founded in 1968, TEMSA produces over 10,000 coaches, buses and light trucks per year.

TEMSA is present in almost 70 markets worldwide with a significant market share in leading economies such as the U.S., U.K., France, Germany and Italy, according to information on the company’s website.

The company says it is one the first coach and bus manufacturer which have two different electrical buses ready for serial production, Avenue Electron and MD9 electriCITY.
