A fire broke out today at Lake Mogan near Ankara, Turkish media reported. There were no casualties or property damage as mainly the wetlands surrounding the lake were affected, according the initial reports.

The lake is a protected environmental zone and hosts hundreds of bird species. The Ankara Governor’s Office's guesthouse is also located on the lake.

A local source told the Hürriyet Daily News that the wind had made conditions difficult for the firefighters, but the fire had been extinguished around 10:30 p.m. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, the source added.
