Kyrenia to draw health tourism by medical hub

Florence Nightingale Hospital will establish an environmentally friendly, smart health complex in northern Cyprus at a cost of around 160 million euros.

The hospital, which will be founded jointly by Turkey-based hospital chains Florence Nightingale and Girne American University, is looking to draw a substantial amount of health tourism to the island as the complex will offer a number of rare medical services.

The two institutions signed last week a protocol of cooperation regarding a group of hospitals offering specialized healthcare.

“The complex will not only serve northern Cyprus, it will also serve regional neighbors and the island will be the center of heath tourism,” daily Hürriyet reported Girne American University chairman Serhat Akpınar as saying.

The hospital is planned to have prominent facilities, particularly in geriatric care, a retirement home for the elderly, an addiction treatment and rehabilitation center as well as a lifestyle and beauty center where artistic and cultural events can be hosted. The smart medical center will include classical hospital equipment including 12 policlinics, an emergency room and intensive care units.

The facility will also be the first “green hospital” of northern Cyprus.
