Bank Asya League One winner Akhisar and runner-up Elazığspor won automatic promotion at the end of the season, while the teams placed third to sixth in the division entered the promotion playoffs.

Both teams encountered few problems on their way to the final, with regular season fourth Kasımpaşa knocking out fifth-placed Konyaspor 6-0 on aggregate and sixth-placed Adanaspor winning its two-leg semifinal tie 4-1 on aggregate against Çaykur Rizespor.

Kasımpaşa will return to the top flight just a year after being relegated if it can defeat the southern outfit.
