Istanbul prepares to host Davos follow-up meeting

Turkey will host the follow-up World Economic Forum in Istanbul from June 4 to 6. The meeting will bring together 1,000 global leaders from government, business, media and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) from Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia to discuss new models and solutions to reinvigorate the economies of these regions.

This will be the first time that Turkey is hosting this forum. It will also be the first time that the 42-year-old World Economic Forum will focus on more than one region.

“Leaders from the government, business community, religious community and NGOs are facing a challenging struggle to improve the world for future generations. Countries from Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia play a key role,” said Stephen Kinnock, director of the World Economic Forum and head of Europe and Central Asia.

Co-chairs for the World Economic Forum are Brazil’s EMBRAER President and Senior Manager Frederico Curado, National Bank of Kuwait’s Senior Group Manager (CEO) Ibrahim D. Dabdoub, Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems President and CEO Ditlev Engle, The Coca-Cola Company’s Executive Board President and Senior Manager Muhtar A. Kent, Russian VTB Bank President and Senior Manager Andrey L. Kostin, Italian Eni’s President Giuseppe Recchi and Turkey’s Sabancı Holding’s Executive Board Director and Executive Director Güler Sabancı.
