Istanbul Photo Awards exhibit opens in İzmir

The Istanbul Photo Awards is Turkey’s only news photograph contest held at an international level, receiving approximately 12,000 applications from 104 countries.
Winning photographs covered aspects of global news events such as the civil war in Syria, the Ebola outbreak in Africa, the Ukraine conflict, political crises, and natural disasters around the world.
Daniel Berehulak’s photograph from Liberia about the Ebola epidemic was named Photo of the Year. Several prestigious professionals got to pick the best photographs in the contest.
The jury included Time Magazine International Photograph Editor Alice Gabriner, Director of Shangai Center of Photography Liu Heung Shing, Stern Magazine Photograph Editor Harald Menk, Getty Images Executive Georges De Keerle, World Press Photo award winning Guillaume Herbaut, World Press Photo award winning war correspondent Patrick Chauvel, AFP Director of Photo Business Development Michel Scotto, Anadolu Agency Visual News Editor-in-Chief Ahmet Sel and Photography Editor Firat Yurdakul.
The exhibition at the airport will be available to view until Aug. 25.
