A bus driver in Istanbul recently lost his driver’s certificate following claims that he had threatened passengers with a knife, Anatolia news agency reported. An official statement said the bus driver’s driving certificate was canceled by the Istanbul Public Transport Authority (İETT) following an investigation that had been looking into the claims.
The İETT and private bus lines directory both apologized for the "unacceptable behavior" and asked passengers not to think that the incident was indicative of “all private buses and drivers."
Over 2,100 private buses are used daily in public transportation in Istanbul.
