Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen denounced violence against women in a recently released video, saying he would, “strongly slap the face,” of those who use violence against women.“If I had the chance, I would first ask for patience from Allah and then strongly slap the faces of those who treat their wives harshly, despite there being no such thing in the Kuran or sunnet,” said Gülen during a speech released by the herkul.org website.
He also said he feels sorry when he learns that families are being torn apart and said he would not forgive those, even his brother, who cause divorce. Gülen is currently living in the United States and is the founder of a movement widely known as Hizmet.
