Intriguingly narrow building in Turkey’s southeast home to Syrian refugees

An intriguingly narrow building in the Siverek district of the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa has become home to Syrian refugees who fled their war-torn country, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The three-story building, built on a triangle of land only around 50 square meters wide, has raised eyebrows in the neighborhood as it is just one-meter wide on one side and four-meters wide on the other. 



The building has two rooms on each floor, including a small bathroom, and is currently home to the Hacce family from Syria.

Hacce said they had been living in the building as four people and the owner did not charge rent.

According to one local, the building has not been permanently used for five years but refugees have often sheltered there in cold weather during winter.
