International Olympic Committee sanctions Turkish Olympic boxer for anti-doping breach
ZURICH
“Adem Kılıççı, 30, of Turkey, competing in the men’s 69-75 kg boxing event [round of 32 and quarterfinal] in which he ranked 5th and for which he was awarded a diploma, has been disqualified from the Olympic Games London 2012,” the IOC said in a statement.
“Re-analysis of Kılıççı’s samples from London 2012 resulted in a positive test for the prohibited substance dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol),” the statement added.
The IOC called the international boxing deferation and the Turkish Olympic Committee to “ensure full implementation of this decision and consider any further action within its own competence.”
Russian runner Antonina Kriovshapka, who won a silver medal in London as part of the Russian 4x400 meter relay team, and Russian discus thrower Vera Ganeeva, were also disqualified after a positive test for the same substance.,
