Industrial turnover indices rise

February’s industrial turnover index increased 17.3 percent compared with February 2011 with an increase of 3.8 percent from January 2012, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on April 13.

In the industrial sub sectors, the mining and quarrying index increased 28.1 percent while the manufacturing index increased 17 percent in February of this year compared to February 2011.

The highest year-over-year increase in February 2012 was realized in durable consumer goods, according to main industrial groupings classification.

In the sub sectors of the manufacturing industry, the highest increase was seen in the manufacturing of computer, electronic and optical products.

When examining the change rates of the industrial turnover index in February 2012 compared to February 2011, the largest increase was 119.1 percent, witnessed in the manufacturing of computer, electronic and optical products followed by the manufacturing of machinery and equipment at 55.3 percent.
