Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergün announced the most innovative and entrepreneurial universities of Turkey designated by an index of the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) today, on the same day as the university student candidates begin submitting their choices.

Ankara-based Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) topped the list of the most entrepreneurial and innovative universities with 86 points, while Sabancı University ranked second with a slight difference rated with 85.8 points, according to the index.

Bilkent University of Ankara appeared third with 82.7 points on the index, which ranks the top fifty universities. “We don’t analyze the quality of education offered in these universities, but we look into the entrepreneurial and innovative side in this index. A university might have a great instruction system but innovative side may have shortcomings,” Ergün said.

Istanbul’s Boğaziçi University took fourth place in the index, followed by Istanbul Technical University and İzmir Institute of Technology respectively.
