IMF chief Christine Lagarde, who recently made the news when she criticized Greek citizens for avoiding paying their taxes, is exempt from paying taxes herself, the Guardian has reported.

The French citizen makes $496.940 a year, with additional allowances that round up to $84,000, but is free of any income taxes.

Lagarde makes more money in a year than U.S. President Barack Obama, according to the Guardian. She also receives benefits for her family, including subsidies and education grants for her children.

Lagarde had provoked a negative response recently when she suggested that she had little sympathy for Greek citizens who are currently struggling with a severe fiscal crisis becase they avoided paying taxes.
