Husband shoots his wife dead in central Turkey

A man murdered his estranged wife in the Selçuklu district of the central province of Konya late Sunday morning after she refused to reconcile with him.
Carpenter Mustafa Yazicioğlu, 43, shot his wife dead in the presence of their four children with a pump action rifle after Atiye Yazicioğlu, 37, visited the couple’s apartment to collect her personal belongings at around 11:30 a.m. in the Kiliçarslan neighborhood.
When Mustafa Yazicioğlu entreated his wife to move back home and re-unite their family, Atiye Yazicioğlu reportedly told him that he did not bring home any money. Mustafa Yazicioğlu then shot her in the chest during the ensuing quarrel that took place in the second floor of the Okuroğullari Apartment Building, located on Gülnaz Street.
Atiye Yazicioğlu had been living in another flat in the same neighborhood for about a month with her children Mehmet Ali, 20, Edanur, 15, Mücahit, 14 and Sümeyye, 10, according to reports.
Mustafa Yazicioğlu was taken into custody by law enforcement officials while he was still at home, while Atiye Yazicioğlu died on the scene despite the efforts of emergency paramedics who were notified of the situation by neighbors.
