Hugh Jackman back in Istanbul after show’s cancelation

After the postponement of his previously arranged shows due to health reasons, the Zorlu Center is once again bringing world-famous actor and singer Hugh Jackman to Istanbul for three exclusive performances on May 30, 31 and June 1.

The Tony-award winning actor, known worldwide for his roles in movies such as “Wolverine,” “X-Men” and “Real Steel,” will hold a live “on stage performance” by showcasing his dance and vocal talents, backed by a 32-piece orchestra and professional dancers. 

Tributes to classic movie musicals like “Singin’ in the Rain” and “Guys and Dolls”’ as well as odes to Australian composer Peter Allen and the Aborigine culture of Jackman’s native Australia will be showcased. 

The actor is not new to the exercise. He has shown his vocal skills in several movies and musicals such as “Les Misérables,” “The Boy From Oz,” “The Prestige” and “Australia.”  

Born and raised in Australia, Jackman began studying drama at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He began his career with a role on an Australian TV series in 1995.  

Jackman was rewarded with a Tony for his Broadway debut in “The Boy From Oz” in 2004, the same year he first hosted the same ceremony. He returned to Broadway in the 2009 hit “A Steady Rain”’ opposite Daniel Craig, followed by the solo concert “Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway” in 2011.
