Heavy fog hits Istanbul, ferry services canceled
ISTANBUL
Dense fog covered Istanbul on the morning of April 10 and has caused delays in sea travel in the province.
Istanbul’s Cityline Ferry services announced it canceled all services, causing traffic congestion on the Bosphorus bridges and on Istanbul’s Marmaray, a railway network connecting Asia and Europe under the Bosphorus strait.
Meanwhile, Istanbul’s Fast Ferry and Sea Bus Company (İDO) also announced the cancelation of several of its services due to the dense fog.
Visibility was reduced up to 100 meters in the morning in parts of Şişli, Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, Üsküdar, Beykoz, Fatih, Eyüpsultan and Beyoğlu districts of Istanbul.
Cityline Ferry services later announced that it would resume its services as the fog started to decrease.
