Healthy plane trees to be planted in Beşiktaş

The sick plane trees on Dolmabahçe Avenue in the Beşiktaş neighborhood of Istanbul will be removed, to be replaced by healthy ones, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has announced. The operation will start on March 5.

A written statement released by the municipality on Feb. 29 said a report on the trees had been sent to the Istanbul Natural Assets Protection Provincial Committee, and was discussed by the committee on Feb. 9.

“With the decision of the committee, healthy trees will be planted in places of the old trees,” said the statement.
