Hagia Sophia, Topkapı again Turkey's top tourist attractions

The Hagia Sophia Museum and the Topkapı Palace in Istanbul’s historic peninsula were visited by 3.5 million people each in 2014, according to data released by the Culture and Tourism Ministry. The number of visitors is expected to increase this year.Last year the Hagia Sophia Museum was the most visited venue in Turkey among other cultural heritage sites, with a total of 3,574,043 people, while Topkapı Palace narrowly finished in second place with 3.5 million visitors.
These two were followed by the Konya Mevlana Museum, Topkapı Palace’s Seraglio, Antalya’s Demre Museum, the Istanbul Archaeology Museum, the Istanbul Kariye Museum, the Ankara Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, the Ankara Republic Museum and the Nevşehir Hacıbektaş Museum.
In 2014, the most visited ancient site in the country was Pamukkale in southwestern Denizli with 1,874,657 people.
