Gunman wounds Belfast man, daughter outside home
DUBLIN - The Associated Press
Northern Ireland police say a gunman has shot and critically wounded a Belfast man and his daughter outside their home.No paramilitary group claimed responsibility for Tuesday's drive-by shooting in north Belfast.
Police say the 47-year-old man was shot in the chest, his 18-year-old daughter in the stomach and hand, as they both were about to step into a car in their driveway. They say the attacker fired approximately five shots from a passing van.
A hospital says the man's wounds are life-threatening, while his daughter is in critical but stable condition.
Shootings have been far less frequent in Northern Ireland since cease-fires by major paramilitary groups took hold in the mid-1990s, but several factions continue to mount attacks.
