Gül heads to S Arabia to talk on Myanmar

President Abdullah Gül will pay a visit to Saudi Arabia Aug. 13 to 16 to participate in the fourth Extraordinary Islamic Summit called by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The discussion is expected to cover developments in Syria, Palestine, Myanmar, Sudan and Mali, the presidential press office said late Aug. 9.The leaders of Muslim countries will meet in Mecca, where the president is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts on regional and international issues.
The statement said the summit was being held in accordance with the provisions of the organization, which provide for extraordinary meetings to evaluate topics that are vitally important and arrange the policies of the OIC.
“Primarily the issues of Islamic countries; namely Syria, Palestine, Myanmar, Sudan, and Mali; will be taken into account, and it is expected that possible concrete steps for the organization will be evaluated,” the statement said.
