Greek far-right party to form nursery schools

Greek far-right party Golden Dawn has told their supporters that it will create privately run nursery schools for Greek children.

Lawmakers Ilias Panagiotaros and Ilias Lagos announced the party’s intention to open its own nursery schools, according to Greek daily Ekathimerini.

The party’s deputies launched an attack on the Greek left, claiming it had caused children to learn a warped version of the country’s history, the report said. The party has recently defended its decision to give Greek history lessons to primary-school children at one of its offices.

Greece has seen a surge in neo-Nazi activity, with Golden Dawn winning an unprecedented 18 seats with 7 percent of the vote in June 2012 parliamentary elections.
