Greek court sentences Turkish citizen to 50 years for human trafficking

A Turkish citizen, captured in April on Greece’s Farmakonisi island in a boat with 20 Syrian refugees, has been sentenced by a Greek court to 50 years in jail and fined 115,000 euros, on charges of human trafficking.The man, identified only as A.K., was captured by a Greek coastguard on April 13 on the shore of Farmakonisi, after landing in an inflatable boat that was carrying the refugees.
A.K. was sentenced by Greece’s Appeals Court of the Dodecanese.
