Gov’t pins hope on land

The government has drafted legislation to allow the sale of land that has been developed, even though it is formally classified as forest, Hürriyet said, citing unidentified officials.

The measure would apply to land that was built on before the end of 1981, and enable the owners of unregistered buildings to acquire legal title deeds, the newspaper said. Revenue will be used for rural development and infrastructure projects, Hürriyet said.
