Kocaelispor’s third-choice goalkeeper, Buğra Bozkurt Bilgin, has allegedly stabbed team captain Muhammet Rıza Altıntaş during a downtown fight, wounding the latter before being taken into custody.

The players were reportedly on bad terms, and had an argument at training on Jan. 23. They drove into the center of the northwestern city of İzmit (Kocaeli) after training finished, intending to talk over their problems.

The conversation, however, soon turned violent, when Bilgin pulled a knife and stabbed Altıntaş four times in the leg.

Altıntaş was taken to Kocaeli state hospital and was released after receiving stitches. Bilgin has been taken into custody by the police.
