Gezi Park protests became a course at American University
Dr. Ali E. Erol, a faculty in the School of International Service at American University in Washington DC, will teach a course on Gezi Park Protests in Fall 2014.
Dr. Erol's research focuses on the miscommunication patterns between various ideological groups in Turkey.
His course will focus on the ways in which texts, pictures, videos produced both by protestors and those who opposed the protests formed identities and counter-identities during the protests.
Named "Contemporary Social Movements and Identity", the course will focus on the identity issues across Arab Spring, the #Occupy movement, and similar protests in Greece, Bulgaria, Armenia, Venezuella, Brazil, in addition to Gezi Park protests.
