David Moyes has just completed a disappointing campaign with Manchester United, after Alex Ferguson hand-picked his fellow Scot to replace him after his 26-year stint with the English giant.
Galatasaray is in talks with Scottish coach David Moyes for its vacant managerial post, according to reports.Moyes, who is currently out of a job after departing Manchester United, arrived in Istanbul on June 27 to start talks with the Turkish club.
Galatasaray chairman Ünal Aysal confirmed that talks were underway with Moyes, but stressed that the Scot was not the club’s only option.
“We have talked with David Moyes and learned that he might come to Galatasaray. But he is not our priority,” Aysal told Doğan News Agency.
Aysal also named three German coaches that the club was in contact with: Ottmar Hitzfeld, Joachim Löw and Jürgen Klinsmann, who are all currently at the World Cup coaching Switzerland, Germany and the United States respectively.
“Our searches for a new coach will continue in accordance with the World Cup [results]. We are not rushing. We have at least 15 days,” he said.
The Lions parted ways with Roberto Mancini earlier this month, ending the Italian’s eight-month spell in charge. Mancini led Galatasaray to a runner-up finish in the league along with a Turkish Cup victory, but his job ended by mutual consent after he reportedly fell out with the club hierarchy over the transfer budget.
