French Center hosts comics exhibition
The French Cultural Center is hosting “Crossed Glances: Franco-Belgian and Turkish Comics,” an exhibition set to be shown until Aug. 31. Celebrating the mutual fascination between these two cultures throughout history, the comics in the exhibition were all created between 1919 and 2012, although their subjects date back as far as Byzantium. The comics have been divided into five themes, and subjects vary from whirling dervishes to Erasmus students haggling over prices in the Grand Bazaar. Curated in French and Turkish, the exhibition is worth visiting for Francophiles and comic lovers alike.
