France raids PKK ahead of Turkish prime minister visit

French police detained 24 people who allegedly supported the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Paris late Nov. 1 ahead of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to the country.

A fight started when the suspects raided a Turkish teahouse. Police checked the suspects’ IDs in the street and detained 24 for allegedly supporting the PKK.

Meanwhile, Turks wounded by the attacks of PKK supporters in Paris on Oct. 30 when they were protesting the killings of Turkish soldiers by the terrorist organization were reported to be in good condition. The Turkish Embassy in Paris in a written statement asked citizens to stay calm and avoid provocations.

“French police, responsible for securing a legal rally [of Turks], fell short of taking necessary measures. We have conveyed our response to the French Interior Ministry, Foreign Ministry and Paris police chief immediately,” the statement said, referring to the Turks wounded during Sunday’s rally in Paris.
