Four people kidnapped by PKK in southeastern Turkey

Three female teachers and one village guard in the southeastern province of Siirt were kidnapped by suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) yesterday, Doğan news agency has reported.  

Militants abducted the four people after blocking their cars by force of arms on a road in the Pervari district.

An operation has been launched to apprehend the militants and rescue those kidnapped.  

Meanwhile, a teacher and a village guard were released late yesterday, after being kidnapped by PKK militants in the southeastern province of Şırnak three days ago.  

The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
