Four members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party have been killed in clashes in the eastern province of Tunceli as security forces confiscated weaponry never before used in Turkey, Doğan news agency reported.

The guns, custom-made in northern Iraq, are rarely seen among PKK militants and have never been seen in Turkey before. They are capable of firing anti-aircraft shells and are often used in attacks on helicopters.

The weapons could reportedly create a hole in armored vehicles used by Turkish forces, the agency said.

Operations are continuing in the area.
