Former European Parliament deputy Feleknas Uca was reportedly detained Nov. 14 at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport for carrying a large number of B-1 vitamins that she planned to take to hunger strikers.

Uca was detained at the airport’s police station and then sent to the Foreigners Department and Anti-Terror Department respectively. According to Uca’s lawyer Ramazan Demir, Uca was detained after it was detected in the archives that she was active within the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and its alleged urban wing, the Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK), as part of an investigation conducted by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Demir also said Uca’s personal medication boxes were taken by the police. Demir said the prosecutor demanded a two-day long custody hold on Uca.
