Five PKK militants killed in clashes in Turkey's southeast

Five suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in clashes in the southeastern province of Siirt today.An operation was launched after intelligence reports said a group of militants were hiding at in Sehi Forests, 40 kilometers from Siirt's Hizan district.
Special forces from the gendarmerie and the police were deployed in the forest, who came in contact with suspected PKK militants. Two militants were killed in the ensuing fire fight.
Two village guards were wounded in the clashes, reports said.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
