Firm shakes hands for Cairo garbage picking

Egypt’s Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) will cooperate with a Turkish firm in the North African country in picking up garbage and converting it into energy if the Muslim Brotherhood-backed party comes to power, according to a company executive.

Egyturk Group Chairman Hasan Akyüz said his company had discussed with the FJP about how to conduct the municipal services in Egypt, including water treatment, purification and traffic lights, and agreed on providing advisory services in principal.

Cairo has been chosen as a pilot area and a project will be initiated comprising garbage pickup, converting garbage to energy, water purification and setting up traffic lights in one half of the city, Akyüz told Anatolia news agency.

The project will be realized if the party forms a government, said the Egyturk chairman.
