A fire has erupted at a sponge factory in Istanbul’s Tuzla district on Dec. 3, Doğan News Agency reported.

Many firefighters were dispatched to the Tuzla Organized Industrial Site to fight the fire.

The fire was taken under control after around one hour's work, which included help from choppers, daily Habertürk reported on its website on Dec. 3.

While there were no casulties, the factory experienced a great material damage.

This fire came after another fire that erupted at a depot of a factory producing insulating material in the Dilovası district of the western Kocaeli province on Dec. 3, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Workers in the factory were evacuated after the fire reached the polystyrene material used for insulation.

The fire was put out around one hour after it initially started.
