Fire breaks out in Çanakkale forest, near Gelibolu National Park

A fire broke out in a forest 20 kilometers from Çanakkale’s Gelibolu district July 28, Doğan news agency reported.The fire, which started at around 12 p.m., immediately spread due to windy weather and came close to Gelibolu National Park, where settlements are also present.
Six helicopters and firefighters from Tekirdağ, Edirne, Keşan and other neighborhoods dispatched to the area to bring the flames under control, but the excessive wind negatively affected the firefighting efforts.
Firefighters are still trying to bring the fire under control. The cause of the fire has not been established yet.
