Festival calls for young jazz musicians

ISTANBUL

The 23rd Istanbul Jazz Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), is calling for young jazz musicians to take the stage at a special festival event to be held in July. 

The Young Jazz event provides a platform for young musicians and bands representing the genre. Those wishing to participate in the event and show off their talent should fill up the form on the IKSV website by April 8. 

Eight bands, to be selected by the Young Jazz Selective Committee, will be invited to give a concert on April 24. Among them, four names will have chance to take the stage at the 23rd Istanbul Jazz Festival. 

According to a statement made by IKSV, musicians’ demos may be submitted in a variety of styles including fusion jazz, rock jazz, blues jazz, Latin jazz, acid jazz, soul, R&B and electronic jazz. Musicians under 30 years of age who have never released an album are eligible to apply for a spot on the line-up of the Young Jazz event.
