Trabzonspor has made a winning start to its European campaign by beating the Northern Irish Derry City 4-2 in Europa League second qualifying game played at the Avni Aker Stadium.With a new coach on the bench, the Turkish side snapped two goals in the first quarter of hour of the match with Adrian Mierzejewski’s stunning bicycle kick in the 10th minute and a flawless finishing from Henrique four minutes later.
However, the visitors equalized with two back-to-back long distance shots in the 25th and 32 minutes.
The Black Sea storms recovered from the shock after Olcan Adın's shot was deflected to the net by Derry City’s captain Barry Molloy in the 40th minute.
The home side’s fourth goal came right after the break from Giray Kaçar’s header on a corner kick. It was Kaçar’s first official game after being sidelined for six months by the medical team due to heart problems.
The second leg will be played next week in Derry.
