Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor played out a goalless draw in the first big game of the Spor Toto Super League season on Sept. 14.The two, fierce rivals in Turkish football, did not live up to the expectations of the game, which came in the second week of the Super League season. The goalkeepers were hardly tested throughout the full 90 minutes.
It was the second goal-free draw in a row for Trabzonspor, who was missing its marquee signing Oscar Cardozo due to an injury.
The two other games on Sept. 14 also ended in draws, with both Kasımpaşa-Mersin İdman Yurdu and Gaziantepspor-Kayseri Erciyesspor closing at 2-2.
Galatasaray also failed to overcome a goalless stalemate against Eskişehirspor on Sept. 13, while the Kardemir Karabükspor-Istanbul Başakşehirspor game also ended 0-0.
Torku Konyaspor beat Balıkesirspor 2-0, and Bursaspor won 2-1 at Gençlerbirliği.
The second round in the Super League will close with two games on Sept. 15, as Beşiktaş takes on Çaykur Rizespor and Akhisar hosts Sivasspor.
