Fenerbahçe became the leader of Group C after beating Marseille 1-0 yesterday evening at Velodrome stadium in the southern province of Marseille in France.

Bekir İrtegün scored the only goal of the match, a reverse shot at minute 40.

With the game’s single goal the Yellow Canaries, who increased their total points from 10 to 13, are guaranteed to continue in the Europa League.

Meanwhile, there were clashes between the two teams’ supporters following the match. Marseille fans who unfurled the outlawed Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) and Greek flags angered Fenerbahçe supporters. French fans also inspired anger due to firebrands they threw onto the field.
