Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş share points in Istanbul derby

ISTANBUL

Fenerbahçe and Beşiktaş have drawn 1-1 at Şükrü Saraçoğlu Stadium in Istanbul on Sept. 24 evening in Istanbul derby match in Turkey's Spor Toto Super Lig.

Despite a constant pressure by Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş got the lead in the first half with Dutch winger Ryan Babel's powerful strike outside the penalty area in the 40th minute.

Fenerbahçe responded in the second half with their new transfer, Ghanaian striker Andre Ayew, who netted a curved header past Beşiktaş' goalkeeper Loris Karius in the 71st minute.

Beşiktaş' Caner Erkin was sent off with a second yellow card after the final whistle was blown.

Beşiktaş increased their points total to 11, placed at fourth place, while Fenerbahçe got their first draw of the season and placed 13th spot with only 7 points so far in six matches.
