February deadline for film submissions

Turkish film submissions to the Istanbul Film Festival, organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), will continue until Feb. 3, 2012.According a written statement made by İKSV, the best film will win 150,000 Turkish Liras and the best director will win 50,000 liras. Also, the best actor and actress will win 10,000 liras. The winners will be selected by the National Golden Tulip Competition jury.
The director of the film that wins the award dedicated to late Turkish writer Onat Kutlar will be given $30,000 by Efes Pilsen for the next film project.
Along with feature films, the National Golden Tulip Competition will accept feature-length documentaries and animated films. All the films will be screened under the categories National Golden Tulip Competition, out of competition, new Turkish cinema and documentaries.
Considering the increasing number of documentaries, a Documentary Consultant Council was formed within the scope of the festival this year. The committee includes director Berke Baş, director and academic Can Candan, director Elif Ergezen, academic Alisa Lebow and film critic Alin Taşçıyan.
Films can be submitted to the festival center until Feb. 3, 2012.
