Farmers to get drought support
MUŞ - Anatolia News Agency
The government is working on a code that would allow Turkish farmers to defer their loan payments to agricultural loan cooperatives by one year via Ziraat Bankası, Agriculture Minister Mehdi Eker told reporters during his visit to Muş in eastern Turkey. The code is meant to address farmers who have been struggling to repay loans due to draught conditions.“We are planning to put Muş’s agriculture and livestock problems on the table, listen to the concerns of our friends and prepare a working plan since Muş has over 20,000 registered farmers,” Eker said.
“This code has been submitted to the Cabinet for signature and a one-year loan repayment delay is possible. This is because the draught has hit the East and Central Anatolia this year,” he said.
