A man introducing himself as a public prosecutor to obtain money from people as part of “his investigation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party [PKK]” in the southern province of Antalya has been arrested for deceiving the public.

An Antalya local, G.Ö., went to the police after T.K. called him and asked him to transfer 9,500 Turkish Liras to his account, accusing him of “financially supporting the PKK.”

Antalya police cooperating with G.Ö. transferred 9,500 liras to T.K.’s account and carried out an operation in the bank where T.K. had gone to withdraw the money.

T.K. and a friend were detained and testified at the local police station. The friend was released and T.K. was sent to prison.
