EU agency awards firms for workplace safety, health

The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) announced the ten winners that are rewarded the best examples of cooperation between managers and employees in risk prevention, during the European conference ‘Small business and workplace safety and health: the challenge; the opportunity’ on April 29.The EU-OSHA organized the 11th edition of the Good Practice Awards in which several hundred companies of all sizes from 29 countries in the EU and beyond competed. This was the first time EU-OSHA gave joint awards to both managers and workers, which is in line with the ongoing Healthy Workplaces Campaign on the topic of ‘Working together for risk prevention’.
Kasım Özer, Turkey’s Director General of Occupational Health and Safety, stated that they give importance to the competition which shows the employers, employees and other related parties the benefits of successful occupational health and safety implementations and which encourages companies about good practices. Özer continued his words as: “I would like to express my congratulations to our company which is awarded in the competition and wish that this success will serve as a model to other companies by showing the good practice in occupational health and safety and by enabling this success and practical solutions to be further implemented by other companies”.
