Erol Akyavaş’s painting sold for 1.9 mln liras

Late Turkish painter Erol Akyavaş’s painting was sold for about 2 million Turkish liras at an auction held by Antik A.Ş. over the weekend.The contemporary art auction, featuring contemporary Turkish artists since the 1950s, offered 200 works by renowned artists such as Fahrel Nissa Zeid, Erol Akyavaş, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu an Mehmet Güleryüz.
Akyavaş’s painting “Fallen City II” was the record holder of the auction with a price of 1.9 million liras.
Zeid’s “The Reverse,” which will be displayed at London’s Tate Modern in 2017, found a buyer for 1.575 million liras while Eyüboğlu’s “Karabaş Coffee House” and “Auto portrait” were sold for 315,000 and 215,000 liras, respectively.
Güleryüz’s “Farmer” fetched 230,000 liras.
Among the other paintings, Kemal Önsoy’s “The Sun” and “Orhan Peker’s “Fisherman and Cats” found buyers for 200,000 liras.
