Ergenekon suspect ‘had life like series’

Sedat Peker, the alleged gang leader being tried in the Ergenekon coup-plot case, has said he is “not an angel but not a man like Hannibal Lecter,” adding that he may be tired in this case only for having a life similar to TV series “Kurtlar Vadisi” (The Valley of the Wolves).

Peker, who is being tried under arrest, made his defense in the trial at Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court on April 22.

He said he had not been told by his lawyers that he was under arrest because they were considering his bad reputation. “I have the potential to commit violence. I am not an angel but nor am I like Hannibal Lecter,” he said. Peker told the court that his life was similar to “Kurtlar Vadisi,” referring to the popular TV series widely criticized for its violence scenes. “I do not want to believe that I am in jail because of my name, or because I have lived a live similar to ‘Kurtlar Vadisi,’” he added.

Peker is said to have been involved in Ergenekon and is accused of collecting funds for the group.
