Erdoğan-Putin to meet in Sochi for Syria

ANKARA

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will meet on Sept.17 in Black Sea resort of Sochi in Russia and discuss developments on Syria, a Turkish diplomat told Hürriyet Daily News.

Turkey still working for a peaceful solution for Syria’s rebel-held province of Idlib, and President Erdoğan would hold talks with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.

“We will continue our efforts with Iran and with Russia. ... We will continue our efforts on international platforms as well,” he stated.

Ankara is concerned about a humanitarian crisis in Idlib, which straddles Turkey’s borders and is home to more than 3 million people.
