President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has ordered a “more effective struggle” against all kinds of addictions during a meeting with Turkish Green Crescent (Yeşilay) head Mücahit Öztürk in Ankara.

In the meeting, Erdoğan urged all non-governmental organizations to speed up efforts against drugs, technology, alcohol and cigarette addiction.

“We cannot sacrifice our youth further to drug terror,” he reportedly told Öztürk in their meeting at the presidential palace, adding that addiction to technology has become a serious issue among the youth.

“Technology addiction constitutes one of the main problems among the youth around the world. We need to struggle with addictions more effectively,” he said.

For his part, Öztürk told Erdoğan that up to 10 million children had received education to boost the struggle against addictions over the past two years.
